Wonderful antique European Napoleon III or Victorian era 9 3/4 double well tea caddy box, missing interior fittings but in solid oak and with ornate silver or nickel plated appliques including large lid cartouche with intricate forest & hunting dogs or hounds & game bird scene! Visually, this one is simply fantastic.

Dark toned oak construction and the extensive silver finished cast bronze appliques contrast beautifully! A varitable treasure chest now, wouldn't you say? It looks like the interior would have had a center divider and lids originally as you would expect from a double well tea caddy.

Also possible that it was fitted to hold a decanter and had fittings for tobacco/smoking paraphernalia but it's missing all fittings and only has the replacement fabric lining in the base. This one has a working lock with old skeleton key. A magnificent decorative accent, don't miss it! I've shown enlarged, close-up photos so peruse and enjoy.

As noted, all interior fittings/fixtures have been removed. The corner fox/wolf figures on the lid have some chipping (one nearly half gone) and there is a small section to the beaded stripping missing from the right side. An age/drying split to the front right side corner area of the lid panel. There is also extensive wear to the silvered finish on the appliqués, with the coppery colored metal showing. All original hardware and working lock with key.
